Adding Other Overlays (Cracks, Dirt, Scratches)

While BloodScreens Pro is built for procedural blood effects, you are not limited to blood overlays!
You can easily adapt the system to use any screen overlays, such as:
Cracks and broken glass
Dirt, dust, grime buildup
Water drops, frost, scratches
Ink spills, oil smears, etc.
The placement, generation, and blending will work the same way, giving your scene extra dynamic damage effects beyond just blood.
You can follow the exact same steps outlined here: 👉
When adding your own textures:
Use transparent PNGs for clean blending.
Aim for mid-to-high resolution (~512×512 or higher) for sharp effects.
Grayscale or colored overlays both work—the system handles blending automatically.
Make sure your overlay fits the visual style of your game (dirty overlays for apocalyptic themes, cracked glass for shooter HUDs, etc).
Tip: You can even combine multiple layers (e.g., cracked glass plus blood splatter) for complex results!
Cracks
Simulate a cracked visor or broken screen in VR/AR games
Dirt
Show muddy helmets, dirty lenses, worn HUDs
Scratches
Add wear and tear to sci-fi visors, fighter jet cockpits, etc
Frost
Make frozen windshields or chilly environments
